Zusammenfassung
Die Jugularvenenthrombose ist eine seltene Erscheinungsform venöser Thrombosen, die auch im Rahmen maligner Erkrankungen als paraneoplastisches Syndrom in Erscheinung tritt. Wir berichten über einen 46-jährigen Patienten, der sich mit Dysphagie und einer linksseitigen Halsschwellung vorstellte. Die Duplexsonographie zeigte eine ausgedehnte Thrombose der V. jugularis interna links. Im Rahmen der interdisziplinären Abklärung ergab sich ein paraneoplastisches Syndrom bei einem okkulten Kardiakarzinom vom Siegelringtyp. Eine paraneoplastische Thrombose der V. jugularis interna kann sich als Erstmanifestation einer okkulten Neoplasie offenbaren.
Abstract
Thrombosis of the internal jugular vein is a rare form of deep vein thrombosis with potentially life threatening complications. We report on a 46-year-old male presenting with dysphagia and neck swelling. An extensive thrombosis of the internal jugular vein was found on ultrasound of the neck. An interdisciplinary workup revealed an occult gastric carcinoma. This case demonstrates that concomitant malignancies may contribute to a thrombosis of the internal jugular vein, which is then the primary symptom presented by the patient.
