Zusammenfassung
Für die Entwicklung eines malignen Melanoms und „non melanoma skin cancer“ (NMSC) liegen – allgemein betrachtet – niedrigere Inzidenzen bei Menschen mit dunkler pigmentierter Haut vor, allerdings gibt es dennoch eine hohe Rate an Fehldiagnosen oder zu spät diagnostizierten Fällen, wodurch sich wiederum das Risiko für einen schlechteren Verlauf der Erkrankung für diese Patientengruppen ergibt.
Abstract
Although the rates of melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer are generally lower in people with darker skin tones compared to people with fairer skin tones, there is a higher rate of misdiagnosis and delay in diagnosis in people of color, which in turn increases the risk of a worse treatment outcome for these patients.
