Seit 1988/89 der Erreger der bis dahin als non-A-non-B bezeichneten Hepatitis – das Hepatitis-C-Virus (HCV) – identifiziert wurde,hat sich diese Form der viralen Leberentzündung mehr noch als eine Hepatitis A oder B zu einem öffentlichen Gesundheitsproblem entwickelt.
