Zusammenfassung.

Die vorliegende Übersicht versucht die wesentlichen therapeutischen Neuerungen und den aktuellen Standard in der Intensivmedizin unter Berücksichtigung der pathophysiologischen und diagnostischen Aspekte ausgewählter Krankheitsbilder—vor allem Sepsis sowie septischer und kardiogener Schock—darzustellen. Weitere Themenschwerpunkte befassen sich mit den Fortschritten im Bereich der Beatmung, sowohl in Bezug auf das ARDS („acute respiratory distress syndrome“) als auch auf den zunehmenden Stellenwert der nichtinvasiven Beatmung in der Intensivmedizin, mit therapeutischen Optionen im Rahmen der kardiopulmonalen Reanimation sowie mit dem Stellenwert der Albumindialyse beim Leberversagen.

Abstract.

The following survey is supposed to present the most important new therapeutic approaches und the current standard of treatment in intensive care medicine including pathophysiological and diagnostic aspects of important diseases, particularly sepsis, septic and cardiogenic shock. Furthermore, advances in the following issues are summarized in detail: ventilation, especially acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and the broad spectrum of non-invasive ventilation, new therapeutic options in the field of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the importance of albumin dialysis in acute liver failure.
