Der sogenannte westliche Lebensstil hat in der Vergangenheit zu einer verstärkten Allergiebereitschaft geführt. Angeschuldigt wurde hierfür unter anderem auch die veränderte Nahrungszusammensetzung hin zu ballaststoffärmeren Lebensmitteln und die Veränderung des Mikrobioms.
