Die demographische Entwicklung ist in aller Munde: Deutschland wird älter! Doch durch die höhere Lebenserwartung wird sich der Anteil der über 65-Jährigen bis zum Jahr 2030 nicht nur um circa ein Drittel erhöhen. Das Alter gilt gleichzeitig als der größte Risikofaktor für gerontopsychiatrische Erkrankungen wie Demenzen, Depressionen, Verkennung der Realität, Ängste und andere psychosoziale Beeinträchtigungen.
