Proktologie in Deutschland

Zusammenfassung

Die wissenschaftliche Betrachtung der Koloproktologie begann mit der Gründung des St. Marks Hospitals.

In Deutschland wurde die Proktologie durch den Berufsverband der Coloproktologen Deutschlands (BCD) und der Deutsche Gesellschaft für Koloproktologie (DGK) institutionalisiert.

Im Jahr 2004 hat der Ärztetag die Proktologie als Zusatzbezeichnung in die Weiterbildungsordnung aufgenommen und damit die Eigenständigkeit des Fachs anerkannt sowie die Voraussetzungen für eine qualitative Versorgung der Bevölkerung geschaffen. Bedarf und Nachfrage nach einer speziellen Behandlung durch einen Proktologen werden immer größer.

Für die Versorgung gibt es – außer in Ballungszentren – zu wenige Proktologen. Deshalb muss Weiterbildung in der Proktologie intensiviert werden und ist wichtig für die Sicherung der Nachfolge unserer Praxen. Der jährlich in München von der DGK organisierte Koloproktologenkongress gehört zu den bedeutendsten in Europa. Insgesamt ist die Koloproktologie in Deutschland gut aufgestellt und führend in Europa.

Abstract

The scientific study of coloproctology began with the foundation of St. Mark’s Hospital.

In Germany, coloproctology was institutionalized in the form of the German Association of Coloproctologists (Berufsverband der Coloproktologen Deutschlands, BCD) and the German Society of Coloproctology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Koloproktologie, DGK).

In 2004, the German Medical Assembly recognized coloproctology as a specialist supplementary qualification in continuing medical education, thereby acknowledging the independence of the field and refining the requirements for qualitative medical care of the population. The demand for specialist treatment by a coloproctologist is constantly on the increase.

Apart from in specialist centers, there are too few coloproctologists to satisfy the demand for specialist medical care. Continuing medical training in coloproctology has to be intensified to ensure the future of our practices. The annual congress organized by the German Society of Coloproctology in Munich is amongst the most important in Europe. Overall, coloproctology is well established in Germany and German coloproctologists have a leading role in Europe.
