Ausführlich wird die vereinspolitische Entwicklung der europäischen Koloproktologie von 1980 bis heute dargestellt. Vorbereitung, Gründung und Entwicklung des „Europäischen Rates für Koloproktologie“ (ECCP) werden ebenso geschildert wie die Gründe für die Etablierung der „European Association of Coloproctology“ (EACP). Die Ursachen für und der Weg zur Auflösung dieser zwei Vereinigungen sowie die Gründung der neuen „Europäischen Gesellschaft für Koloproktologie“, der European Society of Coloproctology (ESCP) demonstrieren die Bereitschaft der europäischen Koloproktologen zur verstärkten Kooperation—letztlich für eine verbesserte Versorgung koloproktologischer Patienten. Die Leser der coloproctology werden aufgerufen, die europäische Entwicklung stärker als bisher mitzugestalten und sich in der neuen Gesellschaft zu engagieren.

Summary

The political development of European coloproctology from 1980 until now is being comprehensively presented. Preparatory actions, foundation and development of the “European Council of Coloproctology” (ECCP) are described as well as the motives for the dissolution of these two unions and the foundation of the “European Society of Coloproctology” (ESCP) demonstrate the willingness of the European coloproctologists to cooperate more strongly—and thus to improve the treament of coloproctologic patients. The readers of coloproctology are called to shape the European development in an even stronger way and to commit themselves to the new society.
