Seppo Koskinen is Chief Physician at the Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare. His work has focused on inequalities and time trends in health and functional capacity, their causes and possibilities to intervene.

Pekka Puska is the Director General of the new Finnish National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) that started in January 2009 after a merger of the National Public Health Institute (KTL) and the National Research and Development Centre for Welfare and Health (Stakes). He has been previously working for WHO in Geneva as Director for Non-communicable Disease Prevention and Health Promotion. He is currently the President of the World Heart Federation and the Vice President of the International Association of National Public Health Institutes.
