Abstract.

We present the general solutions, continuous at a point, of some functional equations on open subsets of the n-dimensional real space, originating from invariance of n-attribute utility functions under shift transformations. The utility functions are assumed to be nonconstant. We discuss invariance (i) on all attributes; (ii) on a proper subset of the attributes, and (iii) invariance with identical values of the shift parameters.
