A Magnitude-Felt Area Relation in the Evaluation of the Magnitude of Historical Earthquakes

Abstract

An evaluation of the magnitude of historical earthquakes is proposed, through an empirical relation based on a felt area of historical earthquakes derived from a vectorial modelling of macroseismic intensity distribution.
