Robert W. Smith is a historian of science at the University of Alberta. Among his recent works is a chapter on “Wallace and Extraterrestrial Life” for the Chicago Companion to Alfred Russell Wallace, and he is a co-editor of the forthcoming Neptune: From Grand Discovery to a World Revealed. In 2020, he was awarded the American Astronomical Society’s Doggett Prize for the History of Astronomy.
