Compactness via equivalence relations

Abstract.

We introduce a notion of compactness via equivalence relations and use it to show that congruent compact algebras as well as equationally (and topologically) compact structures are all atomic compact relational systems. We then apply this notion to generalize certain results on algebraic and linear compactness of modules.
