Proceedings of the 10th Jubilee East–West Immunogenetics Conference on April 21–23, 2016 (Wrocław, Poland)

Introduction

The 10th Jubilee East–West Immunogenetics Conference (EWIC) held on 21–23 April, 2016 in Wrocław (Poland) was organized by the Hirszfeld Institute of Immunology and Experimental Therapy, Polish Academy of Sciences in Wrocław and the Polish Society for Immunogenetics. The event was supported by the Leading National Research Center (KNOW) and the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The conference aimed to address issues associated with immuno- and pharmacogenetics, organ transplantation, transplantation of hematopoietic cells, population genetics, analysis of factors associated with susceptibility and course of diseases as well as applications of novel approaches in diagnostics and therapy. It brought together scientists, diagnosticians and clinicians from 15 countries (Armenia, Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, Germany, Hungary, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Russia, United Kingdom), giving an opportunity to present the results of recent scientific studies and discuss practical aspects of immunogenetic testing. The plenary and poster sessions were extended with the European Federation for Immunogenetics session and the MultiGenBank workshop, presenting a recently established immunogenetic database of the Polish population.

This special issue of the Archivum Immunologiae et Therapiae Experimental is devoted to our conference includes all the abstracts submitted, as well as 20 peer-reviewed manuscripts—both reviews and original reports—based on selected lectures and conference presentations.
