Abstract
We derive an analytic solution for particle motion in strong, linearily polarized spherical waves for the case of negligible radiation reaction. If radiation reaction is included the initial part of the motion can also be described analytically, whereas the further motion is obtained from a numerical integration of the equation of motion.
