Abstract
In an oral presentation chances and limitations of lithotripsy for delayed femoral and tibial healing were discussed. A success rate of nearly 70% could be achieved in highly selected patients. Patients with a positive scintigraphy and those in whom osteotomies had been performed attained the best outcomes. In selected cases of delayed femoral and tibial healing the role of a surgical revision must be considered more carefully in future whenever nonsurgical alternatives that are free of complications, such as lithotripsy, are available.
