Abstract
Bone fractures in children are different from those in adults in that a child’s bone is affected not only as a static element of the skeleton but also as an organ of growth. For this reason the treatment cannot be planned without detailed knowledge of (1) the growth processes in in the skeleton during childhood, (2) their potential for correction of the skeletal form, and (3) the possible consequences of direct lesions to the growth plates.
