Abstract
In recent years, a new ski varyingly called shaped, parabolic or super sidecut has become extremely popular. A cause for great concern is the possibility of these new skis being associated with a higher risk of injuries. The case of a super sidecut skier is presented who experienced an isolated rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after doing a narrow radius turn without any twist or fall. The ACL rupture can be explained by an isometric internal force leading to the injury. Hence it follows that the creation of high forces during rapid speed changes or narrow curving using super sidecut skis might lead to isolated ruptures of the ACL.
