Touristische Kartographie des Riesengebirges vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg

Zusammenfassung

Vor dem Zweiten Weltkrieg gehörte das Riesengebirge zu den populärsten Touristengebieten Deutschlands. Schon seit dem Beginn der Massentouristik im Riesengebirge erschien die Produktion von Reiseführern und Touristenkarten. In den Jahren 1800–1945 veröffentlichten etwa 50 Herausgeber insgesamt über 100 Karten dieses Gebirgszuges. Zu den besten zählen die von C. Flemming, C.C. Meinhold, R. Mittelbach, J. Straube, A. Köhler, G. Brieger und A. Kiessling herausgegebenen Karten. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg geriet die große Errungenschaft der deutschen kartographischen Firmen in Vergessenheit.

Abstract

Before World War II the Karkonosze Mountains were one of the most popular tourist regions in Germany. Since mass tourism started, guides and maps have been produced. In the years 1800–1945 around 50 editors published over 100 tourist maps of that mountain range. The best include those by C. Flemming, C.C. Meinhold, R. Mittelbach, J. Straube, A. Köhler, G. Brieger and A. Kiessling. After World War II the output of German cartographic companies was forgotten.
