Optimization of Therapy via Rehabilitation plus Pharmacotherapy

Abstract

Pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with COPD is more effective when the optimal bronchodilation has been reached. For obvious reasons therefore, the best possible bronchodilatory treatment should be instituted and subsequently, along with this pharmacotherapy, rehabilitation should be started. Tangible success for the patient can be expected from a combination of training and medication. In view of the relatively short-lived effects of a training therapy, it would be appropriate to make possible the continuous participation of the patient in pulmonary training through the build-up of respective networks. Those affected should be activated and their personal responsibility emphasized.
