Summary
The planning of the advertising budget of a multinational corporation depends essentially on the company structure. In case of a polycentric structure, budgeting can either be centralized in the parent company or decentralized in the subsidiary companies. In both cases exists the problem of proper reporting from the subsidiaries to the parent company given the incentive to improve the own position through false statements. For geocentric company structures central budgeting is advantageous in order to utilize learning effects for production and advertising. These aspects are examined in regard to the development of solution concepts for optimal advertising budgeting.
