Abstract

This model for the Psychiatric PGY 1 year proposes that the trainee be exposed to appropriate psychiatric principles while simultaneously functioning as a medical intern. At least double the minimal time mandated by the ABPN should be spent on the medical ward. The required medical experience would thus be integrated into the training of the psychiatric resident.
