Abstract

Based on the design of vacuum fusion apparatus, an improved system has been developed solely for hydrogen analysis. A tin-iron bath permits melting and operation at 1150°C. Heating and stirring are accomplished by induction heating in a water jacketed slica tube All grease is eliminated from the system by means of mercury valves. Routine 15 min analyses are standard. Precision of ± 0.1 parts per million for a 2 g sample is attained.
