Abstract

WHAT are the metallurgical factors influencing quality of oxygen-decarbonized acid electric steel? There have been many discussions of the economics of oxygen v. ore practices, but here is the first determination of the degree to which each variable in standard oxygen practice influences the physical properties of the steel. This paper may arouse some controversy, but thereby a great deal of free thinking can be stimulated.
