Abstract
A water-cooled probe, introduced through the roof of an open hearth furnace for jetting oxygen into the steel, is described. Effects on carbon elimination and other operating data are given. A system of slag control for sulfur elimination, involving control of oxygen utilization, lime addition and bath carbon, is described.
