Abstract

In the extension of molybdenum single crystals at room temperature, the slip planes were found to be of the type {110}; the slip direction <111>. Theories of plasticity of body-centered cubic metals have been examined, and an explanation based upon planes of highest atomic density seems plausible to explain the plastic behavior of molybdenum single crystals.
