Abstract
An electrothermal process developed by Duisburger Kupferhuette to produce metallic zinc from zinc oocide clinker is described. The submerged arc furnaces—charged with zinc oxide clinker, coke, and fluxes—developed for this process are discussed. The means and problems of condensing the zinc vapor in the splash condensers are also covered.
