Abstract

Neither the words to be defined on the vocabulary test of the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale nor the criteria for scoring them have changed since 1937. This identity allowed the comparison of vocabulary scores derived for school children in 1942 with those procured in 1976. The contemporary scores are higher and the size of the increments varies in MA from 14 to 25 months. The largest gains occur at the youngest age levels.
