Abstract

A survey on the receipt of nuisance telephone calls was conducted, using 483 undergraduates, 223 males and 260 females. Of the 483 S’s, 83%, 73% of the males and 90% of the females, indicated that they had received such calls. The calls could be categorized into four major types: obscene, anonymous, humorous or witty, and miscellaneous. Of these four types, the first three were reported more often. The results substantiate an earlier study reported by Murray.
