Abstract

An Ibm 1620 computer was programmed to simulate an experimenter in a Taffel-type verbal conditioning experiment. The simulated E instructed Ss, presented stimuli, reinforced criterion responses, and recorded the experimental data. Subjects (N=15) communicated with the E by means of the console typewriter. Awareness was assessed by a performance criterion as well as by interview responses. The results confirm prior findings.
