Summary
Hilgard’s revised edition of Theories of Learning is in many respects a new book and an improvement over the earlier edition. Its clarity and comprehensiveness make it an excellent text for a variety of courses, but the absence of a systematic framework for the consideration of theories of learning limits its utility for more advanced and serious students. Perhaps this is an inevitable result to trying to please as many people as possible as much of the time as possible. In the end no one is completely satisfied.
