Iron Ore Developments Surge in West Africa

Abstract

The first ton of iron ore from West Africa was shipped in 1951. Since then, exports have exceeded 4 million tons per year. This article reviews the present status of iron ore mining in West Africa, which is predicted to attain a capacity of 40 to 50 million tons by 1970.
