Abstract
Most reactive metals are currently produced by the consumable-electrode process. Research and development of a cold crucible for induction melting has demonstrated that the process is technically feasible. This paper discusses the objectives, investigations, and the results of the initial research program carried-out at Battette Memorial Institute.
