Abstract
The automotive industry is a major industry branch in Germany. The assembly-line is of special importance due to a low automation level and a large number of blue-collar workers. Today, production management is characterized by the use of new systems of work organization, such as lean-production methods. These methods revolve around the maintenance of a high level of work-standardization, short cycle time and continuous improvement. However, various recent researches imply that the introduction of this productivity-rationalization process barely leads to ergonomic improvements in the assembly-line environment.
