Als wäre eine Tür zugefallen weicht unvermittelt die gewohnte Hörschärfe einem dumpfen Druckgefühl im Ohr und ein scharfer Pfeifton tritt aus dem Nichts hervor: ein beängstigendes Ereignis. Beginn eines Schlaganfalls, Vorbote eines Herzinfarkts? Der Betroffene er wartet von seinem Arzt i. d. R. dringlich Hilfe. Ein aufklärendes Gespräch ist hier äußerst wichtig, denn — das betonen die Leitlinien — der plötzliche idiopathische Hörverlust ist kein Notfall.
