Zusammenfassung

Mit über 60 000 Amputationen pro Jahr liegt Deutschland europaweit im oberen Drittel, in ca. 70% der Fälle sind Diabetiker betroffen. Rund 3000 bis 6000 Diabetiker erblinden jährlich, etwa 20 000 sind dialysepflichtig — alles Folgen eines unzureichend eingestellten Diabetes. Angesichts dieser Zahlen wird klar: Bei der Versorgung von Diabetikern in Deutschland besteht Verbesserungsbedarf.
