Zusammenfassung

Der Einsatz von Botulinumtoxin in der Schmerztherapie wird heftig und kontrovers diskutiert. Aufgrund der Datenlage ist die Anwendung des Neurotoxins derzeit erst bei Versagen etablierter therapeutischer Maßnahmen zu erwägen. Der Schwerpunkt des Einsatzes liegt bei chronischen Kopfschmerzen und myofaszialen Schmerzen, insbesondere beim Vorliegen von Triggerpunkten.
