A report on the first several years’ operation of the expanded James Bridge Copper Works at Walsall, England. High Intensity Refining is favored in spite of its higher power costs.

He holds a First Class Honours Degree in Metallurgy from University College, Swansea (1958) and an M.Sc. from Birmingham University. His experience as a metallurgist includes service with Mufulira, Cerro de Pasco and Consolidated Mining and Smelting Co. of Canada.

Jan S. JacobiTMS received his early education in West Berlin and later earned a First Honours Degree in Metallurgy from the Royal School of Mines, London. He has held many research and development positions worldwide and is currently Director and Group Technical Consultant for James Bridge Copper Works of IMI Refinery (Holdings) Ltd., Walsall, England.
