He received his B.S. in metallurgy from Penn State University and his Sc.D from MIT. He began his US Steel career in 1942 prior to his World War II Navy service. After separation from the Navy he was assigned to the Duquesne plant as development metallurgist. Occupying increasingly responsible positions, he advanced to VP-long range facility planning in 1965; was named VP-applied research in 1968; and appointed to his present position in March, 1972.
