Abstract
There are several key factors that can not be avoided, nor treated with casual regard, that are fundamental to the long term viability of any metalcasting facility. Each of these internal factors exert a major influence on quality, financial success and all other internal metrics, regardless of external factors such as governmental policy or exchange rate.
The following observations are based upon two decades of assignments at metalcasting facilities and over two decades as a technical services engineer to iron foundries in seven countries on three continents.
