Effect of Detector Gamma on the Brightness Scale of a CCD Camera

Abstract

A simple experiment is performed to observe the relationship between image brightness and the signal produced by a CCD camera interns of gray values. The camera is alternately adjusted for linear and square root gamma mode and the transfer function relating image brightness and the CCD gray values are found to change accordingly.
