An All-Optical Binary Comparator Using Non-Linear Material

Abstract

Data comparison is an essential task in data processing systems. In our traditional electronic methods more than 100 GHz operational speed is not achievable at-all. This situation can be managed by introducing photon as information carrier where THz range of operational speed can be adopted easily. Here in this communication an one bit all-optical binary comparison scheme is proposed. The scheme is developed by the proper use of optical non-linear material, acting as an optical switching device.
