Abstract

Projection holograms have attracted attentions of scientists and viewers since many decades. These holograms reconstruct 3-D image in space when illuminated in laser light and the image is so real that the observer often tries to touch. These holograms have potential applications in education, scientific and commercial purposes such as advertisements etc. In these type of holograms it is desirable that reconstructed image has wide viewing angle comparable to the laser transmission hologram. In this paper, we present a novel technique for recording of hologram reconstructing 3-D image floating in space between the observer and hologram when illuminated with laser light (λ=632.8 nm). Methods for increasing brightness and the viewing angle of reconstructed image are discussed. The experimental results are also presented.
