Summary
A new family of horizontal tensile testing machines has been developed to permit rapid testing of similar samples in such areas as production quality control and large-scale R&D projects. These horizontal testers have exploited modular design concepts, developed initially for vertical-frame machines, to permit maximum flexibility. The test machines can be operated manually or automatically, with minimal operator interaction. The computer storage, analysis, and printout of the data generated by these machines is discussed.
