Abstract
Much of the work of basic research and trouble shooting has now been done for electron-optics based analytical methods. The future looks very promising.

Dr. Marcus is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering I Materials Science and Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. He received a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from Purdue University in 1963 and a Ph.D. in materials Science from Northwestern University in 7967. He was a member of the Technical Staff at Texas Instruments, Attleboro, Massachusetts, from 1966–68. Subsequently he was a Member of Technical Staff (1968–71) and Group Leader, Fracture and Metal Physics Group (1971–75) at the Rockwell Science Center, Thousand Oaks, California. He presently serves on the TMS Board of Directors as the Programming Vice-Chairman for Metal Science.
