Additional information
Russell W. Burman obtained his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering, 1949, from Michigan Technological University. After completion of a college graduate training program at the Caterpillar Tractor Co., he worked in the Process Metallurgical Lab there, and briefly for Chrysler-Central Engineering in Detroit. In 1953 he joined the then Climax Molybdenum Co. Research Lab as a project engineer, where his efforts were directed toward basic research and improved fabrication techniques for molybdenum. Since the transfer to Market Development-ASMC he has been instrumental in the development of special fabrication processes and the promotion of molybdenum alloys for high temp casting tools, an array of hot work tool applications, and a variety of special zinc-handling equipment. He is a member of AIME, ASM, Society of Die Casting Engineers, two committees of ASTM, and the Die Materials Committee of Die Casting Research Foundation.
