Inhibition of cimetidine-induced hyperprolactinemia by pretreatment with metergoline

Abstract

A marked and immediate increase of serum PRL was observed in 5 healthy women after iv administration of cimetidine, but not in 5 women pretreated with metergoline. These results could suggest a relationship between cimetidine-induced PRL secretion and the serotoninergic system.
