Riassunto

Le azioni biologiche di obestatin sono tuttora controverse, probabilmente a causa della mancata identificazione di uno specifico recettore. Pochi studi concordano, infatti, sul legame tra obestatin e il GPR39 e altri suggeriscono l’interazione con altri siti di legame, tra cui il recettore del glucagon-like peptide-1. Il ruolo di obestatin è noto soprattutto nella regolazione dell’appetito, della proliferazione e della funzionalità di numerosi modelli cellulari, mentre resta ancora da chiarire un suo ruolo nella regolazione della secrezione insulinica.
