Riassunto
Il cambiamento culturale degli stili di vita e dell’alimentazione, associato a una drastica diminuzione dell’attività fisica, ha fatto sì che l’obesità e il sovrappeso siano annoverati in questi anni tra le più importanti malattie sociali. La terapia dell’obesità è di difficile gestione. Innanzitutto bisogna sempre considerare il tipo di obesità (lieve o grave, semplice o complicata), in modo da poter individuare la terapia più adeguata. Inoltre, si deve considerare che a 5 anni dal trattamento dietoterapico il 95% dei pazienti obesi recidiva, quindi l’aderenza ai programmi dietetici è scarsa a lungo termine. Questo ha dato il via alla produzione e commercializzazione di tantissimi prodotti dimagranti che spesso sono venduti con promesse di efficacia e di sicuro successo.
