L’oscillazione del peso è un indice di rischio cardiovascolare indipendente dal livello ponderale medio. Molti dei trattamenti utilizzati per l’obesità inducono oscillazioni del peso, per cui l’eccesso di mortalità dovuto alla weight cycling syndrome (sindrome da oscillazione del peso) può essere considerato in parte iatrogeno.
